Business Issue

Discount Tire faced a critical challenge with its legacy Point of Sale (PoS) system, which was more than 20 years old and unable to keep pace with the modern demands of its growing network of 1,200+ stores. There was a pressing need to revamp their PoS to enhance efficiency, reduce customer wait times, and ensure a seamless transaction process.

Solution

Our team embarked on an ambitious project to overhaul the legacy PoS system. We capitalized on AWS DynamoDB’s high-performance NoSQL database service to manage the increased transaction volume effectively. This integration allowed us to modernize transaction handling, as DynamoDB’s scalability supported the efficient processing of 10-15 million product purchase requests per month. We also implemented a new desktop system and developed a mobile solution, leveraging DynamoDB’s capabilities to ensure fast, reliable, and secure transactions.

By utilizing DynamoDB’s real-time processing power, we accelerated inventory stocking by 50%, ensuring timely availability of products to meet consumer demands.
